Bravo, bravo, perfecto!

A moment I almost forgot about in 1st grade yesterday: After finishing telling students a simplified Spanish version of “The Lazy Grasshopper & the Busy Ant,” one of my 1st graders burst out in “Excelente!” This lead the others to cheer me on using words they’ve heard me say to them, but that I’ve never directly taught. As they exclaimed “Perfecto, perfecto! Excelente! Muy bien!” their hands flew up with wild enthusiasm. It was such a cute, surprising moment. I’m glad to see I’ve been providing them with plenty of encouraging words this year.
