At the end of my next-to-last lesson with one of my 2nd grade classes this morning, I ended class by telling the kids “Okay, next week we’ll finish up these presentations so just put your bags in your folders and put them straight in your desks. Since there’s no homework, you shouldn’t take anything home this week.” One little girl instantly exclaimed, “What?! No homework?!” and made a large pouty face for all to see. A few others joined in the pouting. None rebelled, surprisingly.
It seems I have trained them well.
